Meet the Owner
Jacob Barr is principal of the firm BARR CPA LLC, a full service certified public accounting firm with office located in Ridgewood, New Jersey and a satellite office in Long Island, New York. He specializes in business valuation, litigation support services - including financial investigations, income determination, fund flow tracing, forensic accounting, fraud examination, and related tax consulting and financial planning. He has extensive experience in Federal Tax, Multi-States Taxation, NY and NJ Sales & Use Tax, Corporate Business Tax (CBT) and Gross Income tax (GIT).
Jacob understands how the complex IRS and States taxation system operates and he can find you every legitimate deduction and credit available to save you money. Over the years, his clients have had exceptionally few IRS and states’ audits due to his experience avoiding deductions that are questionable to the Tax Agencies. He is very skilled and knowledgeable with using technicalities in the statutes and manages the strategy and psychology of a tax audit. Jacob has experience in dealing with IRS staff and understand the delicate balance between delivering the answers to questions that are raised without providing too much information that could trigger further examination.
In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Jacob was Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) and the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designations from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The ABV credential is conferred upon CPAs who have demonstrated the skill, education, and experience necessary to satisfy stringent requirements. There are fewer than 2,500 credentialed ABVs in the United States. He also received his credentials as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and a Master Analyst in Financial Forsnsics from the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) and as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). Jacob also received his credential as a Crtified Merger & Acquisition Advisor from the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors.
Jacob is frequently called upon as a technical resource in various litigation actions. He has consulted and provided services in matters including complex business valuations, due diligence analysis, fraud examinations, and matrimonial proceedings, damage assessments, lost profit calculations, shareholder disputes, insurance claims analysis and complex IRS tax litigations.
Jacob received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1986. He is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA).
